Robotic Laser Welding
In some cases, an off-the-shelf solution for laser application is not available due to power or space requirements. When creating a custom solution, we work closely with our vendors to carefully select and size laser components. After selection, we integrate the components seamlessly and create a custom laser control logic system. Below are examples of what such applications can look like.
Custom Laser Etching System
In this particular case, the customer required a machine upgrade to install an etching laser into the existing machine. There was minimal space inside, so a standard laser was not an option. The chosen solution on the control side was to integrate a 5VDC Galvo head controller with a 24VDC PLC Control system. Additionally, the etching laser needed to be integrated into the existing controls platform to utilize its recipe management system.
Custom Laser Welding System
This Laser Welding System utilized a 2.5kV CO2 laser to weld steel components together. It was constructed from the laser source, beam delivery system, beam adjustment system, several mirrors and a laser welding head. The specified tolerance range was realized by utilizing a custom clamping and spinning mechanism that featured a very small runout.
